Our History

From a pedagogical institute to a classical university

The history of Navoiy State University begins with the Navoiy State Pedagogical Institute, established in 1992. Over the following three decades, the institute grew into the region's leading centre of education, training thousands of qualified teachers for the schools and vocational institutions of the province.

Throughout the 2000s the institute broadened its scope: new faculties and departments opened, its research capacity strengthened, and international partnerships took shape. This period laid a firm foundation for transformation into a full university.

By Presidential Decree PQ-378 of 31 October 2024, Navoiy State University was established on the basis of the institute and granted classical university status. Today the university delivers comprehensive education and research across the exact, natural, social-humanitarian, economic, language and medical sciences.
